Janet Kay Donovan's Obituary
Janet Kay Donovan, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and educator, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 21, 2014, at Trinity Woods in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was 84 years old.
Janet was born on April 16, 1940, in Lima, Ohio, to Gene and Betty (Obenower) Gossard. She spent her early years in Flint, Michigan, where she attended high school. Janet pursued higher education at Bowling Green University in Ohio, where she cultivated her lifelong Presbyterian faith.
Janet's passion for teaching led her to Midland, Michigan, where she dedicated her career to nurturing young minds as a first and second-grade teacher. Her kindness and patience left a lasting impact on her students and colleagues alike.
On August 29, 1964, Janet married the love of her life, Terrence Donovan, in Detroit, Michigan. The couple shared 60 wonderful years together, filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Janet also played a pivotal role in supporting her husband's business, where she worked diligently as a secretary.
In 2021, Janet and Terrence relocated to Tulsa to be closer to their family. Janet treasured the time spent with her loved ones, especially her two grandchildren, Ireland and August Andeline, affectionately known as Peanut.
Janet is survived by her devoted husband, Terrence; her children, Kelli and Terrence Donovan and his wife, Jill; her cherished grandchildren, Ireland and August Andeline; and her brother, Steve, and his wife, Pat.
Janet's warmth, generosity, and unwavering faith will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love and dedication to family and education will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
