James Scott Obituary
James H. Scott, born Howard James Scott, 71, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2022 due to complications of coronary artery disease at the Oklahoma Heart Institute in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Final interment will be at the Lithuanian National Cemetery in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois.
He is described as a quiet person, who was not only dependable, but trustworthy, always putting his familys’ care and needs ahead of himself. He most enjoyed watching old television shows and movies, sometimes binge watching an entire series. Another favorite were first run movies at the theater. Jim kept his home in good condition, working on projects to enhance it as a modern, comfortable sanctuary for his family.
Born the youngest of four boys on April 14, 1951 in East Chicago, Indiana, Jim was the son of Lewis and Florence (Szylagyi) Scott. After graduating from Washington High School in East Chicago, he served our country, in the U.S. Navy, along with his brother, Roger, both aboard the U.S.S. Shenandoah.
Jim and his wife Anita (Povilaitis)Scott, met through his brother Rogers’ wife, then girlfriend. They eloped to his Naval duty station, marrying on April 7, 1972 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina and celebrated their 50th year together, earlier this year. Returning to the Chicago area after military service, they raised their two sons, Jason and Bradley, along with caring for Anita’s mother and grandmother.
Jim worked for United Airlines as a customer service agent, working first at O’Hare Airport in Chicago, then transferring to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he retired after 25 years of dedicated employment in 2011. He also lived for a time in California, near to his oldest son Jason, his wife (Reiko) and grandchildren Ashton (11) and Zoey (6). Recently he relocated to the Tulsa area, where Jim and Anita, assisted their son Bradley, for care with grandchildren, Kaden (10) and Demetri (7) .
Surviving family are his wife, Anita; his children, Jason Scott (Reiko) and Bradley Scott; grandchildren Ashton, Zoey, Kaden and Demetri; brothers Roger Scott and Donald Scott.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother Ronald Scott.
