James Lee "Jamie" Logan's Obituary
James Logan Obituary
Memorial graveside services will be planned to honor and celebrate the life of James Lee "Jamie" Logan. Jamie passed away on Friday, June 5, 2020 in Tulsa. He was 56. On July 22, 1963 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, James Lee Logan or “Jamie”, as he would affectionately become known, was born into a family that would modify, over time, to include eight siblings. Jamie’s parents were John Baker Logan, Jr. and Jeanne (Pryor). Growing up in the Tahlequah and Muskogee area, Jamie was described by his sisters as a mischievous and curious little boy. They remembered his first love being that of the game of baseball, but, as he grew older, he found a strong love for music and even had a natural ability to play numerous instruments by ear. In addition to music and sports, Jamie was an excellent storyteller and a lover of nature. He expressed that love through painting, sketching, and photography. Family and friends have been the recipients of these works of art and they will certainly be treasured more now than ever before. A graduate of Muskogee High School, Jamie also attended Bacone College and later Tulsa Welding School. He worked as a welder and fabricator for Windor Supply and Manufacturing, in Tulsa, but later traded that for a job with Asplundh. This may have been his way to get closer to nature. At age 31, he became a father to his beloved daughter, Jamie Lee Applegate. They shared common interests and loved hanging out, road trips and rock concerts. He was especially proud of her receiving a Gates Foundation Scholarship to attend university and completing her Bachelor's degree. Throughout his lifetime, Jamie made friends very easily. This was the case during his school years, while working, and through the various extracurricular activities that he participated in. It seemed that his personality was one that made others feel extremely comfortable around him. In addition, it didn’t take long for those around him to laugh. All he had to do was start in with one of his stories or simply start joking around. Jamie will be remembered for many things. Some of those include: his long hair that he refused to cut no matter how thin it got; his dedication to ranching where he gained the title, “The Cattle Baron”, for his love of his leather chaps (that some thought he may never take off), for giving names to his various guitars, for eating whatever he wanted and never gaining a pound, for his fish bowl full of girl’s numbers back in the day, and for his Muscogee Creek Nation heritage that he was so proud of. Charming, polite, a gentle spirit, and grateful to those who showed him kindness are ways to describe Jamie. A friend to so many, he will certainly be missed by those who knew and loved him. Those surviving include: his daughter, Jamie Lee Applegate; his father, John Logan, Jr. and wife Sue; his siblings: Doc, Lydia and husband Ralph, Gina and husband James, Roy, Joe, Rocky, and Rory along with a host of nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by: his mother, Jeanne (Pryor) Adair; his maternal grandmother, Flo Lowery; twin infant siblings: Kevin and Sheila Smith; niece, Sarah Logan; and the love of his life, Tammy Weidel.
