Forty plus years ago, Jacob and Scott took a chance on a 15 year old who didn’t know which end of the hammer to use to drive those one inch weather strip nails they filled their mouths with. We became acquainted with Jacob playing bridge at the Jenks Senior Center. He was a dear man and we will certainly miss him.
We lived down the street from Jay and his wife. Jay stopped by one day to see if my boys wanted to work for him. Justin and Robby would come home with some funny, great stories of Jay. Some times, I think he paid them to come play. LolHe and Jan were so good to my boys through the years. It was a blessing to know him!
How fortunate I was to know this delightful, sweet man over a deck of cards at the Senior Center in Jenks.We will miss him.
I have only been able share Jacob's warm personality this past couple of year over through Jenks Senior Citizens. Jacob's witty humor, the warm tickle in his eyes, and natural way of having fun and sharing will be deeply missed by all. He as man that immediately communicated respect thru his wonderful personalty and enjoyment of life. I will always feel privileged in being able to create fun memories with him as a friend.
Jay was always like another grandpa to my brother and me. He would come by our place and pick us up to work or play. We never knew what we would be doing for the day but we knew it would be fun either way. When hay season came around we stayed busy all summer long with the help of one of his daughters. She could out work all of us. Jay was a awesome person to be around and a great example of a Christian man! He and Jan will always hold a special place in my heart. They were special no doubt.
Jay made a great impact in my life. I had the pleasure of working on that 30 acres and at sooner weather stripping and it was always a blast. Still to this day I remember that fast food was never on the list of things to eat and pizza was always a Saturday special. You can’t describe the love that Jay had for his family and especially Jan. You will be missed greatly. He was always Grandpa Jay!
