Services to honor and remember Jack Lee Layne Sr. will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 5, 2024 in the Rivercrest Chapel & Event Center, Bixby-South Tulsa Funeral Service. Family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday evening, February 4th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. also at Rivercrest.Jack Lee Layne Sr., 87, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, crossed the finish line from earth into his heavenly home on Monday, January 29, 2024.Jack Layne was born March 26, 1936, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to parents Byron and Almeda (Riney) Layne. Raised by his maternal grandparents, Lee and Rosa Riney in nearby Ramona, Jack experienced a peaceful, country upbringing. During his youth, he enjoyed working with horses, hunting and simply being outdoors.In his late teens, Jack made his way to Tulsa to find work and to find his way in life. It wouldn't take long before he met a pretty young lady, Brenda Roberts. The two would first meet outside the movie theatre where Brenda was patiently awaiting her parents to take her home following a show. Jack insisted that he could drive her and although Brenda liked that idea, she made him wait until her parents arrived. As it turned out, Jack was allowed to drive Brenda home. This would mark the beginning of a relationship that celebrated 66 years of marriage. The couple would reach this milestone on December 31st of last year.Literally, Jack Layne was a "Jack of All Trades". He would pay the bills through being a general contractor and paint contractor in the construction industry, but could do pretty well anything! He rebuilt wrecked cars, owned numerous rental properties and started what is now a four-generation family of racers when he built his first modified stock car.Happy-go-lucky, provider, loving, and affirming are words that begin to describe Jack Layne. He was a man who loved people, especially his family as he worked to be a great husband, father, and grandfather. Both Jack and Brenda equally spoiled their kids and grands. They wanted the best for their family. Jack and Brenda have been long-time members of Seventh Day Bible Church, Tulsa where their Faith and relationships experienced growth and encouragement.In his last days, Jack asked if he had done a good job? There is no doubt, he absolutely did. Enjoy the racing in Heaven, Jack! You will be missed, but your legacy will live on.Jack is survived by: his loving wife, Brenda of the home; his children: daughter, Treatha Chamberlain and her significant other, John; son, Jack, Jr.; daughter, Lisa Layne Frye and husband, Rodney and daughter, Jeannie Hamil; grandchildren: Curtis Jones and significant other, Stephanie; Nicole Mina and husband, Rod; Cameron Frye and wife, Laury; Kaelton Frye and significant other Katie and Brock Berreth and wife, Baylee; great-grandchildren: Treyton Jones, Keiley Yi, Ryker Jones and Beckham Frye; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law: Janet and Harold Thompson and Andrew Roberts along with several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by an adopted family including: David and Lacy McIntosh and their children: Jace, Cannon Makenzie, and Gavin.He was preceded in death by: his son, Terry Lee Layne; his parents and his grandparents: Rosa and Lee Riney.
