Ibinabo "Iby" Natebo Dick Jr., a dedicated community servant, passionate young professional, and devoted follower of Christ, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at his Tulsa residence. He, at 29 years old, has made a significant impact on his family, friends, church, and professional community.
Born in Tulsa on January 14, 1995, Iby was the beloved son of Ibinabo Natebo Sr. and Merleanna (Brown) Dick. A studious individual from his early years, he graduated from Jenks High School in 2013, where he distinguished himself as a talented debater, serving on the school's debate team. He played the violin while in intermediate school which prepared him to join the Praise and Worship Team at Southern Hills Baptist Church (SHBC) as a guitarist.
Iby continued his academic pursuits at Oral Roberts University, where he studied History and Law. Known for his bright mind and compassionate spirit, he was deeply committed to his faith and community service. As a youth leader at Falls Creek, he dedicated his life to Christ and participated in numerous mission trips, demonstrating his commitment to serving others. A great mentor who loves young people volunteered at SHBC with the student ministry. He was an active member of his church, exemplifying and teaching the Word of God.
Professionally, Iby started his business career at IBC Bank and later joined the Fraud Investigation Unit at Bank of Oklahoma, where he is recognized as an exceptional employee who embodied integrity and character. Beyond his professional achievements, he worked with his parents helping them build capacity and with his sharp mind made significant contributions to the success of their business endeavors. Also, he was deeply proud of the charitable work of his parents and carried forward their legacy of community service.
A lover of outdoor activities, Iby enjoys playing frisbee with friends, canoeing, and hiking. He loves traveling to different places because he is adventurous and likes experiencing the outdoors in other parts of the world. In relationships, he was known for his quick comebacks but is described as a dependable friend, kind to everyone, and ready to help without asking many questions.
Iby is survived by his parents, Ibinabo Natebo Sr. and Merleanna Dick, and his two sisters, Lydia L. Nickson (and husband Kelcey) and Tonye L. Dick.
A funeral service to celebrate Iby's life will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Rivercrest Chapel. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
