A funeral service honoring Herbert Garner Scott will be held 2 PM Monday in the Rivercrest Chapel, 13329 S. Memorial Drive in Bixby. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 PM Sunday at Bixby-South Tulsa Funeral Service, 13307 S. Memorial Drive. A committal ceremony is scheduled for 2 PM Tuesday in Calvary Cemetery. Garner passed away Thursday morning, June 1, 2023 at his Broken Arrow residence. He was 86 years old.
Garner was born February 9, 1937 in Covington, Texas. He grew up in Covington where he graduated from high school. Garner was a role model to his four younger siblings, Dale, Carol, Jimmy Dan, and Billy. He enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served honorably. Garner would remain a true patriot for the rest of his life.
Garner held a public relations position and was a close friend of Merle Haggard. While scheduling an event in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, he met Judy Dehart by dialing the wrong phone number. The couple met at the show and later married September `8, 2009 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. The oil business brought Garner to Tulsa where he also found success establishing Scott Auto Sales, which remains in business today. Garner was certainly a good man, he loved music, fishing on Lake Ft. Gibson, and was always out of his way to help others.
Surviving family members include wife, Judy Scott; his children, Scott Robison and his wife Deana, and Charles Robison and his wife, Suzy; five grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Garner was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Jimmy Dan and Billy and son, Todd Scott.
