Alot of my greatest memories with grandpa are all the Christmas eves we went to church in kroschel and stayed the night and the late nights we stayed up playing risk or monopoly. He had the greatest stories and so much wisdom. I remember he would drive me, Jeremiah and Chris with him playing Kris Kristofferson and other A tracks in his car heading up to the property. Grandpa would have late night cereal and if I heard him, he would pour me a bowl and let me stay up and eat cereal with him. These memories are just the few off the top of my head but he was a great wise man and I will miss him dearly. Love you grandpa
Pastor Harvey served at St John’s Church in Kroschel, MN. I was a young adult at that time frame and his sincere, humorous, transparent, grace-filled messages had a huge impact on me. I still use the phrase from him “don’t park your truck in a tunnel”He loved and appreciated all! Somehow, I ended up owning a tape that has a few of his recorded sermons on it. I listen to these periodically and still appreciate the messages. Dad, I could not have asked for a better father. You always went out of your way to teach me so many of life’s lessons… from how to drive in the snow, show compassion for animals and humans alike, plant a garden or take care of goats and be a good husband, father, soldier and Christian.I’m going to miss you dad, but rest assured you will live beyond this life with all of the people you have mentored and taken care of…. My deepest sympathies to the family and to all who knew Pastor Johnson. I am truly blessed to have had the opportunity to know him as teacher and neighbor. His kindness, appreciation of life, and love of God has been an inspiration to me from childhood to adult life. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Know that you are loved.
Oh so many memories of Pastor, one of my favorites was how he would walk from the church to the house and when Matt and I would see him we knew he would watch us race against each other and the winner would get a dime out of his pocket. Yes, Matt usually won! I do have to say when we found a wild blueberry patch and told Pastor about it, he seemed equally as excited but told us to watch out for the bears as they like them too. As Matt and I were picking, we heard a loud roar and sprinted off thinking a bear was behind us....we of course stopped after a bit as we could here Harvey laughing.
