Family will receive friends for visitation on Monday evening July 30, 2018 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Bixby Funeral Service. Harvey passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at home. He was 75. Born June 5, 1943 in Claremore, Oklahoma, Harvey Joe Robinson was the third of six children gifted to Willie Albert and Marian Genevieve (Sawdy) Robinson. Humble beginnings describe the early years of the Robinson family, in the Bixby area, as the family of eight would make their home in a three-room house. Their father working on a dairy farm, meant the Robinson children would establish an early love of the outdoors. Their time might be spent helping with chores, but also included quite a bit of hunting, fishing and using their imaginations. When Sunday's would roll around, you could almost guarantee that the Robinson family would be making their way to White Church where there was an active children's and youth group. They made many great memories at church and at church camp down at Robber's State Park. There is no doubt that faith in God was instilled in each of these children, as was the case for Harvey, and continued to be throughout his life. Once at an age to find employment, Harvey, along with his siblings, would work at Skyline Amusement Park. In fact, Skyline is still a source of many memories for the Robinson family. It also happens to be the place where Harvey met Sharon (Pendexter) for the first time. This meeting certainly sparked the beginning of a beautiful relationship that would span more than 54 years of marriage, would welcome three children, three great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Graduating from Bixby High School as Valedictorian, Harvey furthered his education attending Oklahoma State University. Upon attaining his engineering degree, Harvey found employment with the Phillip's Petroleum Company. His career took he and his family to various destinations including: Oklahoma City, Pauls Valley, OK, Great Bend, KS, Edmond, OK, El Dorado, TX, London, England, Houston, TX, Caracas, Venezuela and Bartlesville, OK. Once retired, he and Sharon would make their home in Tulsa and later Coweta where Harvey could be closer to the lake. Throughout his lifetime, fishing was one of Harvey's favorite pastimes. In addition, he loved to host fish fries and family gatherings. Playing golf and writing songs were Harvey's other hobbies. If he heard something that sounded like it might be a good line for a song, he'd say, "Write that down, I think it could be in a song."Hard working, intelligent, wise, frugal, inspiring, fun, humorous and a jokester are all words that have been used to describe Harvey. He loved telling corny jokes and seeing others around him smile. He was referred to by his family as, 'the Rock' and he will be deeply missed by those he leaves to carry on his legacy. He is survived by: his loving wife, Sharon Robinson of the home; two daughters: Tammy Green of Coweta and Debbie Thomas of North Little Rock, Arkansas; one son, Michael Robinson and wife, Janessa of Montgomery, TX; three grandchildren: Nichole Treadway, Haley Green and Kevin Robinson; five great-grandchildren: Dylan Morris, Hayden and Emma Jo Treadway and Khale and Khadence Whitfield. He is also survived by: his siblings: Billy Robinson and wife, Evelyn of Tulsa; Johnny Robinson and wife, Carol of Pensacola, FL; Helen Andrews and husband, William of Broken Arrow, OK; Richard Robinson and wife, Rosie of Collinsville and Philip Robinson and wife, Rita of Tulsa and two sisters-in-law: Cheryl Thomason and Angela Thompson and husband, David. He was preceded in death by: his parents; a granddaughter, Kimberly and a son-in-law, Pete Green.Visitation Bixby Funeral Service 13307 S.
