In Loving Memory of Harold "Hal" Blaine ScammonHarold Blaine Scammon, affectionately known as Hal, was born on December 13, 1944, in Washington, DC, during the war, where his father was stationed. He spent his formative years in Pittsburgh, Kansas, and faced early challenges as his father passed away when he was only three years old. Following this, Hal's stepfather, a pilot, led the family on a journey across the country, living in various places including West Virginia, where he stayed with his grandparents, Maple Lake, West Virginia, and eventually settling in Tulsa.Hal graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1962. He pursued his basic collegiate studies at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, before returning to California with his parents. It was during this time in California that Hal's life took a serendipitous turn when he met Rebecca Timbrello at the Sears Robuck store in Pasadena, where they both worked. A glance at the top of the escalator sparked a connection that would last a lifetime.Throughout his life, Hal had a passion for cars, particularly the iconic 57 Chevys, of which he owned and restored several over the years. He shared this love with his son, engaging in racing together for a significant part of a decade.Professionally, Hal had a diverse career path. He began as a bodily injury adjuster for All State Insurance in California and later moved to Tulsa to work for Farmers Insurance, eventually becoming the manager of the regional office. Hal then transitioned into the body and paint business, eventually owning Coach Craft Paint and Body in Tulsa for over two decades. He started as a manager and eventually became the owner after purchasing the business. Even in retirement, Hal continued to contribute his expertise to various body shops and dedicated his time to car restoration projects.Hal is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca, and their three children: Kimberly Henneha (Jack), Tiffany Lott (Chad), and Christopher Scammon. He leaves behind eight grandchildren, Brianna Williams, Kelsey Henneha, Bo Henneha, Riley Lamberson, Weston Lamberson, Hudson Lott, Landry Lott, and Hunter Scammon, as well as three great-grandchildren, Parker Williams, Jaclynn Williams, and Reece Williams. He is also survived by his sisters, Elise Reeves and Dana Tye.Hal was preceded in death by his parents.A graveside ceremony to honor and celebrate Hal's life will be held at 1 PM on Friday, March 8, 2024, in Calvary Cemetery. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the memories of love, laughter, and the timeless revving of his beloved 57 Chevys.
