Gracene Delores Acton's Obituary
Gracene Delores Acton was born on September 25, 1931 in Dodge City, Kansas, the daughter of William Brown and Lucille (Thomas) Brown. She attended Polytechnic High School in San Francisco, California, where she met her one and only love, Ben Edward Acton. The two attended the University of California, Berkeley, where Gracene graduated with honors in English literature (1953). She married Ben Acton on August 8, 1953 during his military service in the Korean War. The two were married until his early death on March, 10, 1992.
Gracene taught elementary school in the Los Angeles, California area and pre-school in Northern Virginia. She raised two children, Brett and Scott. Gracene was active in her church (Vienna Baptist and Columbia Baptist in Virginia and Tulsa Bible in Oklahoma) as a Sunday School teacher. She was a Discussion Leader in Bible Study Fellowship. Gracene devoted her life to the Lord Jesus Christ. Her other interests included her grandchildren, entertaining, the stock market, and wheat farming.
She is survived by her daughter Brett Carlson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; son Scott Acton of Charlottesville, Virginia; sister Patricia Nell Nicholas of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren Christopher Dobratz of Edmond, Oklahoma; Lauren Dobratz of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Colby Acton of W. Lafayette, Indiana; Henry Acton of Charlottesville, Virginia; Allysa Dobratz of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and great granddaughter Laney Ponder of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A graveside service for family will be held in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City, Kansas.
