Gloria Sue Wolcott, beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the Tulsa community, peacefully passed away on the morning of March 7, 2024, at the age of 88. She will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, and a private service will be held in her honor.
Born on March 4, 1936, in Ponca City, Gloria was the daughter of Willard and Georgia Showalter Cross. She spent her formative years in the San Francisco area of California and later moved to Tulsa, where she primarily raised her three sons. Gloria's life journey included travels to various destinations, following her husband's military assignments.
Gloria attended high school in Balboa, California, where she discovered her passion for music and played in the marching band. As a devoted mother, she had her hands full with her three boys, instilling in them the values of love, resilience, and kindness. Gloria was known for her incredible culinary skills, and she delighted in preparing fantastic, healthy cuisine for her family.
A member of the Tulsa Orchid Club, Gloria had a green thumb and took great pleasure in gardening. She also had a deep appreciation for bungalow-style houses and enjoyed antiquing. Her love for sewing reflected her creative spirit, which was evident in the meticulous craftsmanship of each piece she created, reflecting her keen eye for detail and dedication to perfection.
Gloria's talent extended to the world of stained glass art, where she demonstrated a remarkable ability to transform ordinary pieces of glass into stunning works of beauty. Through her creative endeavors, she brought joy to those around her and left behind a legacy of artistry that will be cherished.
Gloria found joy in traveling and had a special affinity for visiting the ocean, where the sound of the waves brought her peace and tranquility. She made friends easily with her warm and welcoming demeanor. Her zest for life and adventurous spirit left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know her.
Gloria Sue Wolcott is survived by her three sons, Daniel Cota, Roger Wolcott and his wife, Juliette, and Guy Wolcott; and her cherished grandchildren, Natalie and Rebecca. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of sharing in her love, laughter, and warmth.
