Born January 3, 1934 in Oilton, Oklahoma. Buck spent a lot of time on his grandma and grandpa Smith’s farm during his childhood. Buck graduated from Sand Springs High School.
Coming from a strong military family, Buck served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1954 and the US Army Reserve until 1962. A very speedy and tremendous left-handed hitter, Buck really enjoyed playing baseball competitively for the US Army baseball team in Germany. He coached youth and American legion baseball until his son Richie graduated from high school. Some of his greatest enjoyments in life was coaching the Sand Springs Yankees and the annual Smith Family reunion in Galveston Texas. He loved seeing his Texas family and speckled trout fishing.
Buck was employed by Fibercast company in Sand Springs for 33 years as a production foreman. He also played fast pitch softball for Fibercast in the Tulsa Industrial League for many years. Buck moved to Bixby in 1978 when he married Beverly Foster.
Buck and Beverly were devoted to family and were married 43 years. He continued to share his love of sports with his family the entire time.
Buck loved the Green Bay Packers, Oklahoma Sooners, and the New York Yankees. He idolized Mickey Mantle and believed there was no greater coach than Vince Lombardi. Well it was contagious because his son Richie and grandson Richie Jr remain devout Packer, Sooner, and Yankee fans.
Surviving family members include his wife, Beverly Schuler; son, Richie Schuler Sr. and wife Barbie; stepsons Kenny Baker and wife Patty; Kelly Baker and wife Teena; grandchildren, Daisha Schuler, Richie Schuler Jr. and wife Amy, Jennifer Strope and husband Brent, Jason Baker, Jerrod Baker and wife Nicole, Hunter Stenner and husband Austin, Tyson Baker and wife Alyssa; 12 great grandchildren, and one great grandchild on the way.
