Ever since I was a little girl I have admired my Aunt Gatha. She got the title in my mind as “My Fancy Aunt." She was the elegant, graceful and beautiful Aunt who had it all together. She had the most beautiful smile and most wonderful laugh. I knew I wanted to be like her when I grew up. She was one of the few adults in my life that I looked up to. I remember visiting her home as a child and how beautiful everything was. I specifically remember the “A Towels”. I had no idea what a monogrammed towel was and that it was for decor not to actually dry my hands on. We had been out playing and had to come in and wash our hands and I used the “A Towels”. Aunt Gatha was immediately notified and I thought for sure I was going to be in big trouble. I remember her bending down to talk to me so that she could look me in the eye. She told me that some things are just there to look pretty and not be used. She then showed me the hand towel to be used and said not to worry about the A towel. It could be washed and put right back up to “look pretty.” I vowed then and there that I would have “A Towels” in my bathroom when I grew up. 🤣 That same house had a intercom system which made it possible to talk to each other from other rooms in the house. I remember thinking WOW that is so cool!!!!I remember her taking us to see The Return To Boggy Creek after April and I begged to see that movie. She was not super excited about it as it was a scary movie. I will never forget as we were leaving she said “My goodness I am glad that is over!” She then took us to Grandma and Grandpa Tuckers where we had peanut butter and crackers. It is a favorite of mine to this day.She also introduced me to pimento cheese sandwiches (another favorite) when I visited another of her beautiful homes in Lawton. I will never forget the loft overlooking the living room. Again something I decided I would have to have in my future home. Too many memories to list as they swirl around in my brain.Aleshia Morgan
