Gary Lee Hasz's Obituary
Gary Lee Hasz was born on April 26, 1944, in Flagler, Colorado, to Walter Clarence and Goldie Mae (Lyman) Hasz. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family.
Gary graduated from Flagler High School with the Class of 1962, where he was a dedicated multi-sport athlete, playing football, basketball, track, and baseball. It was at a VFW dance in Hugo, Colorado, that he met the love of his life, Carol Ravenkamp. The couple married on September 27, 1963, also in Hugo, beginning a partnership of marriage that would last for 63 years.
Gary spent most of his life working the land he loved. In Colorado, he farmed wheat, corn, beans, etc., dedicating many years to the cooperative fertilizer industry throughout and Colorado, Nebraska and Kansas. His work took him into various aspects of agriculture. He founded a drilling company called Northeast Irrigation, Inc. Gary's company grew quickly as word traveled fast for what Gary's company could provide, which was everything from water table testing to drilling water wells to selling center pivot sprinkler systems all over Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska. When the farming industry faced difficult times, Gary demonstrated his typical characteristic resilience and adaptability by relocating his family to the Tulsa area for a drastic career change.
So by the year 1985, Gary had purchased Baker Pool Service in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Though it meant learning an entirely new trade, he approached the pool business with the same determination that had defined his farming years. Through hard work, excellent customer service, and notably timely responsiveness to customer needs, Gary built a successful family business and became a trusted name in the community. His legacy is still thriving today.
Gary's passions were simple but profound: family, fishing, football, and fun! During his Colorado years, he could often be found walking along the riverbank, on his own property, feeding the rainbow trout that became so familiar and tame that they earned names. Glutton, Boss Moss, and Fancy Pants, to name a few. He personally stocked his favorite trout stream, creating his own private fishing paradise.
His love of football was equally deep-he was a devoted fan of the Jenks Trojans, Bixby Spartans, College Football and the Denver Broncos. He especially treasured watching his grandsons play, following their journeys all the way into college football. Gary never missed a chance to talk football with anyone who would listen.
Gary also cherished his granddaughters, often joking with his signature humor that "two was all he could handle!" So, God brought him two great granddaughters which doubled his joy but sometimes made him want to take a nap. His beloved dogs, especially his little Carlee and Oscar, were constant companions who brought him joy.
In the kitchen, Gary was legendary for his amazing chili and deviled eggs, recipes that will be remembered and requested at family gatherings for generations to come. We will always remember his giant heart, full face smile, jovial laugh, and those one liner jokes.
A service honoring Gary's remarkable life will be held 10 AM Saturday, January 24, in the Rivercrest Chapel, followed by a reception in the Great Room, where family and friends are invited to share memories and celebrate a life well-lived. The family will also receive visitors from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Gary will be laid to rest in the Bixby Cemetery.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Carol; his brother, Jack Hasz, sister, Rita Riddle; his children: Dennis Hasz (Rene'e), grandchildren: Benjamin, Kendra Avery (Micah); Danene Moulin (Chris), Michael Moulin (Becca), Elijah Moulin, Matthew Moulin, (Rachelle); Jessica and Faith (Great grandchildren); and Darren Hasz (Stacy); Jenna Swindell (Zachary), Dylan Hasz, and Luke Hasz (Mary Jane) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends whose lives he touched with his kindness, humor, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.
Family already in heaven: his parents, Walter and Goldie; his sister, Jeanette Schwartz; and his nephew, Roger Hasz.
In honor of Gary, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Victory Christian School in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
