Gary Richard Baergen's Obituary
Gary Richard Baergen was born on November 24, 1942, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to John and Emma (Nickel) Baergen. He spent his early years on farmland in rural western Oklahoma. However, life changed dramatically when his mother passed away when Gary was just five years old. A few years later, Gary's father, John, married Agnes, and the family relocated to Chouteau, Oklahoma, where Gary attended high school and played basketball for the Wildcats.
After high school, Gary pursued higher education at Northeastern State College in Tahlequah. Gary's intelligence and determination led him to earn degrees in Math, Business Communications, and Physics.
Gary found employment as an electrical engineer with the Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO), a career that eventually brought him to Tulsa. During his time in Lawton, he welcomed a son, Michael. He later went through a divorce and met Imogene "Jeannie," whom he married in February 1978, blending their two families. Gary was then transferred to Tulsa, where he continued his work with PSO until his retirement, which allowed him to join Jeannie in her retirement from a long career in banking.
Gary's passions included OU football, basketball, and classic cars. He proudly restored and owned several classic vehicles, including a 1963 Split-Window Corvette and a 1955 Chevy Cameo Carrier pickup, and he was a longtime member of the Classic Chevy Club of Oklahoma.
Gary's resilience has always been evident. He has battled health challenges with strength and determination, always maintaining his unique sense of humor. One memorable family story is of a time in Ft. Worth when, while resting on the couch under the effects of some medication, Gary suddenly shouted, "Hold onto your nuts, boys!"-a moment of laughter fondly remembered by all.
Preceding Gary in death is his wife, Jeannie; his parents, Emma (Nickel) Baergen and John Baergen; stepmother, Agnes; sisters Doris Helms Lorena Jantz, and Carolyn Penner; step-sisters Florence Moore and Betty Plet; and step-daughters Cindy Jackson and Brenda Baldwin.
Gary's surviving family includes his son, Michael Baergen, and daughter-in-law, Kay, of Fort Worth, TX; grandson, Jared Baergen; great-grandchildren, Luke and Adelyn Garvin, and Bronson Baergen; step-grandchildren, David and Kevin Garvin; step-son, Steven Moeller, and daughter-in-law, Betsy, of Tulsa, OK; step-grandchildren, Brendon Moeller and Brittany Blanck; great-grandchildren, Hudson, Turner, and Rowen Blanck; step-son-in-law, Michael Jackson (Cindy Jackson) of Lawton, OK; and step-grandchild, Justin Jackson; great-grandchildren, Grey, Bristol, and Flint Jackson.
