Services to honor and celebrate the life of Freeda Crabtree will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2020 in the RiverCrest Chapel. Visitation will be open on Friday evening, June 5, 2020, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Bixby Funeral Service. Freeda will be laid to rest in the Bixby Cemetery.
On June 13, 1930 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Freeda Ruth Inbody became one of 12 children born to Roscoe and Emma (Baker) Inbody. She grew up in the Tulsa area where she became a graduate of Rogers High School. In her youth, Freeda met Vernon Crabtree at the Church of God Prophecy in Dawson, Oklahoma. Following a three-year courtship, the two married on February 6, 1948. They then shared 69 wonderful years together before Vernon passed away in July of 2017.
Through the years, Freeda’s life could be summed up by using the word servant. She served her Lord, her church, her husband, her children, along with other family members and friends. She was strong, compassionate, faithful, steadfast, and selfless.
Freeda was called home on Thursday, June 4, 2020. She was 89. She leaves a strong family to carry on her legacy. Those surviving include: four children: Margie McGrew and husband, Carl of Sallisaw; Deborah Chism of Coweta, Sandra Green and husband, Jerry of Bixby, and Vernon Crabtree and wife, Kathy of Grove; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren in addition to other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon and son-in-law, Don Chism.
