Freda Poe Obituary A visitation to honor and remember the life of Freda Poe will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2021 in the RiverCrest Chapel at Bixby Funeral Service. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2021 also at RiverCrest Chapel. Freda passed from this life on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 in Tulsa. She was 76. Freda Faye (Trotter) Poe was born October 8, 1944 in Ozark, Arkansas. Her parents were Raymond Trotter, of Ozark, Arkansas, and Neda Faye (Bateman) Trotter, of Mulberry, Arkansas. Freda lived with her parents and two older brothers, Donald and Allen, on a farm near what is now White Oak Park, Arkansas. Freda attended a one room schoolhouse, near the farm, for her elementary education. In 1953, the family moved to Bixby, Oklahoma. Freda attended Bixby schools until graduation in 1963. She continued her education at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Education and then continued on to earn a master’s degree in Education, in 1970, from the University of Arkansas .Freda worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs near Crown Point, New Mexico. During this time, she met William Poe and they were married, in January 1967, at the Shellenbarger Free Will Baptist Church in Bixby. The couple had one son William Robert Poe. In 1986, Freda retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs and moved back to Bixby. She, along with her brother, Allen, started to build business over the next 33 years to include: multiple day care centers where she provided care to as many as 300 children a day and multiple beauty colleges in northeastern Oklahoma with schools in Bixby and Tahlequah still operating. Finally, in 1998, Freda and Allen purchased the Trotter Poe Ranch five miles east of Morris Oklahoma which is still operating today. Freda was a passionate advocate for education. She encouraged children and adults alike to use education to better themselves. She loved people and made it a point to connect with everyone she met. She gained fulfillment through helping others and often would go the extra mile for those in need. She enjoyed entertaining and bringing people together. Freda especially loved the ranch. She enjoyed the lake and ponds. This is also a place she enjoyed entertaining family and friends, especially during the Fourth of July, complete with fireworks and ice cream machines. Freda was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Neda Trotter, of Bixby, and her brother, Donald Lee Trotter, of Cassville, MO. Freda is survived by: her son, William Robert Poe and wife, Dari of Glenpool; a brother, Allen Trotter and wife, Brenda of Bixby; sister-in-law, Sue Trotter Craig of Cassville, MO; nieces: Tena Trotter and partner, Tammy of Atlanta, GA; Gina Trotter of Houston TX; nephews: Al Don Trotter and wife, Tisha of Mt. Vernon, MO; Joe Trotter and wife, Kathy of Cassville, MO and multiple great nieces and great nephews; Freda is also survived by one very special grandson, Raymond Allen Poe who gave her immense joy for the last five years.Freda had an immense impact on the communities she was a part of and will be greatly missed by all.
