Frances Jean Gutierrez's Obituary
Frances Gutierrez Obituary
Frances Jean "Fran" Gutierrez was born September 4, 1947 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Oscar John and Geneva May (Salmon) Gutierrez. Moving from Tulsa, briefly, to live in Omaha, Nebraska, the Gutierrez family would make a return to Tulsa where Fran attended schools. Little brother, John, can remember Fran being protective and rather direct - even at an early age. This 'nature' dates back to his being in kindergarten and Fran answering all of the questions he was asked by other kids and teachers on the first day. Such as, what is your name? And, could you tell us about your family? In high school, Fran participated in swim, glee club and pep club. She also volunteered countless hours as a candy striper at Hillcrest hospital. Fran would graduate from McLain High School with the class of 1965. Following, she would attend Northeastern in Tahlequah and later the University of Oklahoma. Upon marrying, Fran would make her home in Houston, TX and would soon welcome a baby girl, Amy. The two would eventually return to Tulsa for a fresh start where Fran would work as a librarian for Tulsa County. She would later gain employment with the Public Service Company of Oklahoma where she had a 20-year career as a business analyst and community liaison. She would finish her working career with the Hall, Estill Law Firm where she was a Litigation Support Tech. Through the years, Fran was an avid reader. She once told her family that she read at least one book per week since she was 15 years old. That would make close to about 3,000 books by now! In addition, she loved to quilt and belonged to the Green Country Quilters Guild. More recently, Fran hosted "Game of Throne" watch parties for her friends. The past few years have been spent in care facilities where Fran battled heart issues. Described as loving, direct, and a bit sassy, Fran tried to care of everyone and everything. The love she demonstrated will certainly be missed by those she leaves behind. Fran passed away on Friday, February 15, 2019 in Claremore. She was 71. She is survived by: her daughter, Amy Kathleen Scantlen; her brother, John Gutirrez and wife, Lee and a nephew, Wyatt Gutierrez all of Jenks.
