Dale Baccus' Obituary
Dale Baccus, born on July 22, 1946, in Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma, was the beloved son of Floyd Ardell and Dicy M. (Rogers) Baccus. Growing up in Jenks, Oklahoma, alongside his brothers Don and Larry, Dale's life was marked by his warmth, humor, and dedication.
At 18, while out with friends, Dale joked about needing to go home and get his draft notice, only to find it waiting for him in the mailbox! Without hesitation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, bravely serving two tours in Vietnam and receiving an honorable discharge for his service.
A few years later, Dale met Pat McGahen, and their whirlwind romance led to marriage just three months after meeting. Together, they celebrated 50 years of marriage last August. Their union brought them three children, Mike, Matt, and Kim, and eventually, a dozen grandchildren, each lovingly given a unique nickname by Dale.
In 1981, Dale committed his life to the Lord, breaking generational curses and embarking on a life filled with service, generosity, and love. His profound impact continues through his devoted family.
An entrepreneur at heart, Dale's most notable business venture was owning multiple Tropical Snow locations. Additionally, he served as a kids' pastor for three decades and played a crucial role in launching a church in Glenpool. Dale's strength, heroism, and loving nature made him a role model and his hugs were unparalleled. He believed in giving wholeheartedly and often said, "Never loan. Always give."
In his spare time, Dale enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, woodworking, and playing cards with his 'card buddies'. Above all, he loved the Lord and his family deeply. His final words were, "Stay true to God. He will never leave you." A sentiment he would want all to echo.
Dale passed from this life on July 8, 2024. He was 77.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pat; his children: Mike Baccus and wife Valerie, Matt Baccus and wife Hannah, Kimberly Stutzman and husband Aaron; twelve grandchildren: Mikayla Baccus, Makenna Turner and husband Coltin, Noah Stutzman, Mahayla Baccus, Ryan Hughes, Jacob Stutzman, Aidan Baccus, Judah Coulter, Megan Stutzman, Camdyn Baccus, Cambry Baccus, and Payton Baccus. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Cynthia Baccus and Linda McGahen along with a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Larry and Don, and brother-in-law Bill McGahen.
A Celebration of Dale's life will be Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Community Baptist Church; 28052 E. 128th St., Coweta, OK 74429.
The service will be followed by a graveside with military honors at 1:30 p.m. at Fr. Gibson National Cemetery.
