Evelyn Mae Mahoney's Obituary
Evelyn Nilson was born in Rapid City, South Dakota which had the closest hospital to the Hulett, Wyoming area where she would grow up, on May 11, 1930. Her parents were Garnett Waters and Roy Nilson. She had one sister, Roberta. Evelyn graduated from high school in Hulett, Wyoming and married Edward Mahoney, also from Hulett, August 13, 1947. Along with their first child Linda, they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma so Ed could attend Spartan School of Aeronautics on the GI Bill. After graduating Ed began his 33 year career as an Engineer at Seismograph Service Corporation. Evelyn gave birth to three more children, Roy, Bruce and Sandra. She enjoyed raising her children in Tulsa and found time to garden, begin her lifelong passion for bowling and begin a career keeping financial records for small businesses; she retired from R&M Music in 2018. She enjoyed traveling, initially visits back home to Hulett, and later to Italy, Ireland, Sweden, England and many places in the United States. There are 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Ed and Evelyn were married 72 plus years before he died in 2020. Evelyn died a week before her 95th birthday. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and dear friend to many. A memorial celebrating the lives of Evelyn and Ed will be held at College Hill Presbyterian Church on June 7th at 4:00 PM.
