Evelyn Joyce Clem's Obituary
Evelyn Joyce Clem, 85, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on November 3, 2025.
Evelyn was born on April 26, 1940, in Dodge City, Kansas, to Arthur Mitchell and Geraldine (Trefethen) Edwards. After spending her early years in Kansas, her family relocated to Hot Springs, Arkansas, where her parents served in ministry.
Evelyn pursued higher education with dedication, attending Henderson College in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, where she earned her Master's degree in Education and Counseling. She devoted 16 years to teaching elementary education and continued to impact young lives through many years of substitute teaching while raising her children. Her commitment to caring for others extended into her 60s and 70s when she worked as a CNA for several years.
Evelyn was passionate about her faith and dedicated to prayer. She was actively involved in her church, where she joyfully played the organ and accordion. Alongside her beloved husband, Charles, she spent many years ringing bells for the Salvation Army. She generously supported numerous evangelistic organizations and ministries throughout her life.
Family meant everything to Evelyn. She was especially close with her sisters and cherished every moment with her grandchildren. The second youngest of five children, Evelyn cultivated deep and lasting family bonds throughout her life.
Evelyn is survived by her two sons, John Clem and his wife Rachel, and Daniel Clem and his wife Shelley; four beloved grandchildren, Lydia, Naomi, Phoebe, and Esther; and her brother, Duane Edwards and his wife Linda.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Charles, who passed away just two days before her on November 1, 2025; her parents, Arthur Mitchell and Geraldine Edwards; two sisters, Marjorie Stewart and Corine Peck; and her brother, Lloyd Edwards.
A funeral ceremony honoring both Evelyn and Charles will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 7, 2025, in the Rivercrest Chapel. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 6, 2025, also in the chapel. Interment will follow at 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Malvern, Arkansas.
