Emilio Gustavo Carlson's Obituary
Emilio Gustavo Carlson, 78, at Clarehouse in Tulsa, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024, following a battle with cancer. Emilio Carlson was born in Valparaiso, Chile, on December 12, 1945. He was the son of the late Emilio and Elsa Eliana (Mahan) Carlson. In his youth, Emilio was an avid soccer player.
After attending junior college, he seized an economic opportunity that brought him and his family to the United States in 1972. He married Marcia Alvarez on June 21, 1973, in Los Angeles, CA. Emilio was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Red Bud Valley Ward in Tulsa, OK.
Emilio was a skilled machinist, becoming a master in his field. He worked for companies such as McDonnell Douglas, Boeing, and Kenco Engineering, taking great pride in his work. In his spare time, Emilio was passionate about HAM Radio, maintaining an entire garage dedicated to his hobby. He also enjoyed watching basketball, with the OKC Thunder and LA Lakers being his favorite teams. Emilio was described by those who knew him as the best husband, father, grandfather, kind, compassionate, tender, loyal, and a good friend to many.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marcia; their children, Swen (Isabel) Carlson and Mauricio (Candace) Carlson; four grandchildren, Swen, Lynette, Jordan, and Jagger; and his siblings, Astrid, Ida, and Alfonso. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emilio and Elsa Eliana (Mahan) Carlson, and his brother, Ricardo.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 12110 East 7th Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74128-3605. In Emilio's memory, please consider donating to Clarehouse (www.clarehouse.org) instead of flowers.
