Elinor Kaplin Obituary Elinor Gail (Payne) Kaplin, 66 died at St. Francis Hospital Hospice Center on June 7, 2021, surrounded by her husband and three children. She was born on December 14, 1954 to Robert and Josephine Payne in Wichita, Kansas. Elinor attended school in Wichita and graduated from Wichita Heights High School in 1972. She met her husband Randy and they married on October 19, 1974 in Wichita, Kansas. After getting married, the couple moved to Great Bend, Kansas where Randy had recently taken a job with Texaco. The couple resided in Great Bend for 4 years until being transferred to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where the couple made their home for the next 43 years. Elinor is survived by her husband, Randy, of the home, daughter Jessica D. and her husband Chris Nalley of Tulsa, son, Jared D. and his wife Ann Kaplin of Tulsa, and daughter Jada D. Stiner of Washington D.C. Elinor has four grandchildren, Olivia Nalley, Carter Nalley, Sophia Nalley and Harrison Kaplin. She is survived by her brother Tim Payne and his wife, Rosario of Ormoc City, Philippines. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Gary Kaplin and his wife, Joanne of Ruskin, Florida, and by her sister-in-law Roxy Montague and her husband Steve of Reed City, Michigan. She is also survived by many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Elinor devoted her life to her family, which was top priority in her life. She was for the most part a stay at home Mom with her kids. She had a business that catered to residents at nursing homes need for clothing and apparel and brought these items directly to the residents. She had a part time modeling career where she appeared in numerous television commercials, print ads and video promotional material. These various work ventures were all secondary compared to the time she devoted raising and molding her children into the loving and caring individuals they have become. Her daughters were continuously chauffeured to their dance lessons starting at the age of 4 (which they both continued through college dancing and performing). She chauffeured her son to various sports and Karate training during his childhood. She was always active in PTA and volunteer work at her children’s school, so she could stay continuously involved in their life, even when they were away from home at school. She was also active as a Campfire Leader for her daughters during their developmental years. Elinor loved to bowl, was in two bunco groups, and was an avid scrabble and Words with Friends player. She loved shopping and finding a good bargain, which her daughters inherited. She was her husband’s soulmate that made him complete for their 46 years of marriage. Elinor especially loved Christmas and would host extravagant Christmas parties at her home in Tulsa. Her Christmas decorations dominated the attic storage and every year she would spend weeks decorating the house and preparing for the parties where her friends and family could come to celebrate the Holidays. Elinor also enjoyed hosting parties for all her friends in the local Porsche club. Elinor’s true passion that she excelled at was interior design. She would transform seemingly dull boring rooms into exciting dramatic rooms that reflected her elegant good taste. She loved arts and crafts and would go through her craft room with her children and grandchildren looking for the perfect craft project to build together. This brought her so much joy, to be with her children and grandchildren, throughout her life. Elinor enjoyed traveling and after the children left the nest, she and Randy spent weeks on end traveling across America visiting friends and attending various national Porsche car events and vintage auto rallies across America. She would travel across the hottest spots in the nation in vintage cars without air conditioning and never once complain. Elinor’s outward physical beauty was obvious to anyone, but her inward beauty was known to all that she met; always caring and inviting to all who came to know her. She was the personification of inward and outer beauty. God has called his angel home. The family will be holding a private Celebration of Life service in Elinor’s memory.
