Services to honor and remember the life of Edmond LeRoy Cotter will be 11:00 AM Friday, February 12th, 2021 in the RiverCrest Chapel at Bixby Funeral Service. Family will receive friends before the service from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM also at RiverCrest.
Mr. Cotter passed from this life on February 6, 2021. He was 86.
LeRoy was born April 13, 134 in Carnegie, Oklahoma. He was the son of Charles Edmond and Viola Mae (Thissen) Cotter. LeRoy graduated from Roosevelt High School in Oklahoma City and attended college at the University of Oklahoma. That time at OU was followed by a lifelong journey as a Sooner fan. He also enjoyed supporting the Oklahoma City Thunder basketball team and the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.
During the Korean Conflict, LeRoy served honorably in the United States Air Force as a crew chief on a B-24 Twin Engine Bomber and a mechanic on the P-51 Mustang. One of his jobs while serving was to get the wounded and deceased warriors from Korea to Germany so they could get the proper care and treatment they deserved. Following his service to our country, LeRoy would own and operate Specialized Concrete, Inc. for most of his working life. He was known to have poured concrete all over Tulsa. Everywhere you rode with him in the car he would say, “I poured that!”
LeRoy was what some would call a ‘self-made’ man. There is nothing he couldn’t do if he set his mind to it. He could sew, do upholstery, cook, do anything mechanical, completely restore a vehicle, build swimming pools, and the list could go on. He was an inventor and designer of many things but copywriter of none. One of the many things that brought him joy and satisfaction was restoring a ’72 Chevy Pick-Up. He also enjoyed wheelin’ and dealin’ at the pawn shop or at the gun show. LeRoy liked being on the water and having a good day fishing.
LeRoy is survived by his children, Michael J. Ferguson and wife, Rhonda, Charles Edmond Cotter, Barbara Lynn Parker, Pamela Marie Pendley, Lois Mae Lowrance, and Jo Lea Ford; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; his brother, Ray Cotter; and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty; and his brothers, Lloyd, Leon “Red”, and Leslie Cotter.
The family suggests that those wishing to honor Mr. Cotter with a memorial donation, direct those gifts to the Wounded Warrior Project.
