Mom's smile and laughter...
When Mom smiled, she lit up the whole room! She was such a joyful person, most of the time. We all have our moments and you definitely didn't want to be on her bad side, but when she smiled... Her joy was contagious!
When Mom laughed ... you knew it was Mom's laughter, even in the largest, most crowded spaces, Mom's laughter was unmistakable! And when you heard Mom laughing, you just couldn't help laughing too.
Things I will miss most...
Mom's cheerful morning greeting: "Good Morning, Glory!" I am NOT always a cheerful Good Morning kinda person, but when Mom greeted you with that cheerful, energetic way of hers, the morning suddenly got just a wee bit brighter! It's been awhile since I heard Mom's morning greetings, but I have often recalled them when it was time to get myself out of bed, and it's something I will always cherish.
Mom's birthday calls! Mom used to call us on our birthdays and sing "Happy Birthday!" A precious memory! I have missed that in recent years, but I still think about those Birthday calls and her cheerful singing every Birthday! And those memories make my whole day better!
Watching old movies...
Mom and I were old movie and musicals buffs. My husband totally doesn't get or enjoy my love for old movies or musicals, but Mom shared my passion for them, and we would often discuss the old movies and musicals, and when we were able to get together for a visit, we'd watch them together. Those visits were rare since I moved up to Ohio, but, again, a special memory of Mom.
I won't say much about the fiery looks or finger snaps you could hear from anywhere in church or wherever, but those, too, have their place in our hearts and minds, and while they weren't always pleasant at the time, they've given us a smile and a chuckle now and then in the remembrance of days gone by.
These are the things we carry in our hearts forever!
Mom, I love you! And I miss you already! Save a seat for me! I'll be seeing you again some day! We'll be singing a lot of songs together there! 😊
