Dorthula Mae Taber's Obituary
Dorthula Mae Taber, 84, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025. She was a beloved mother, wife, and community member who lived a life rich with family, work, and personal passions.
Born on May 1, 1940, in Tulsa, Dorthula was the daughter of Loyd and Sabra Mae (Lewis) Jones. She grew up in the West Tulsa area, where she would spend most of her life. After meeting her husband Tommy Ray, they built a life together, raising four children and working side by side.
Dorthula was a dedicated employee of Safeway grocery stores, where she worked as a meat cutter. Her skills extended beyond her professional life, as she was an avid seamstress and quilter, creating beautiful pieces that were treasured by her family and friends. In her leisure time, she shared a love for metal detecting with Tommy, enjoying the excitement of searching for hidden treasures.
She is survived by her children, Daniel Taber, Michael Taber, Jenise Hardesty, Denise Ortiz, one brother, Johnny Jones, ten grandchildren and multiple great grandchildren. whom she loved deeply. Dorthula's is preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Ray Taber, two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Her life was a testament to hard work, creativity, and family devotion.
