Dorothy Rose Villa Porter's Obituary
Dorothy Rose Villa Porter passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on September 2, 1937, in Baltimore, Maryland, to John and Elizabeth Villa. Dorothy attended Seton High School and the College of Notre Dame, where she met her beloved husband of 62 years, the late CDR Michael David Porter, USN Dorothy was devoted to her faith and community, actively volunteering with Catholic Charities in Houston, Navy Relief, and USA Swimming. She found great joy in playing tennis, cooking for loved ones, playing the church organ, caring for local priests and coaching the Cistercian Prep swim team. Her favorite summers were spent making memories with family in Ocean City, Maryland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael. She is survived by her four children: Michael D. Porter Jr. (Siobhan), John A. Porter (Florence), Julia Porter Lyons (George), and Charles N. Porter (Amy); 14 grandchildren: Robert, William, Thomas, Mathias, Eleanor, Thomas, Cecilia, Vincent, Timothy, Jack, George, Olivia, Dominick, and Anna; eight great-grandchildren; her brother, Robert Villa; and sisters, Betty Laur, Rosemary Sue Mallon, and Carolyn Geraghty. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A private interment will be held at the U.S. Naval Academy Columbarium and Cemetery.
