Doris Jean Velador's Obituary
Doris Jean Velador, 84, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on November 9, 2024. She was born on January 17, 1940, in Tulsa to Rolland and Mae (Dudley) Ormsbee.
A proud graduate of Central High School in Tulsa, Doris played violin in the school orchestra, foreshadowing her lifelong appreciation for the arts. Her diverse career included dedicated service at the Tulsa County Health Department until her retirement, teaching ballroom dancing, and working for MPSI. Known for her class, humor, and spirited personality, Doris brought joy to those around her.
She took great pride in her Scottish heritage. Doris had many interests, including solving crossword puzzles and playing Sudoku. She was known for her love of bright colors and flowers, and possessed the increasingly rare skill of writing in shorthand.
Doris is survived by her son Roger Moody and his fiance Heather; daughter Terry Cervantez; grandchildren Falan and husband Joe Rickman, Rachael and husband Caleb Sherman, Krystal Hejtmanek, and Robert and wife Joleen Cervantez,Tara and husband Quincy Hodges, Kyle Maine, Aubree Brannon, Sydney Huston, Noah Huston; and numerous great grandchildren, extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rolland and Mae Ormsbee; her beloved daughter, Sherry Younger; grandson, Samuel Younger; and her sister, Barbara McGowan, and niece Kathy Witt.
Services will be officiated by Pastor Art Spomer. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Scottish Club of Tulsa for their friendship and support.
