Donna Rae Laster's Obituary
Donna Laster was born September 16, 1966 to Cherry and Vernon Ray Hampton.
She lived a life defined not by things, but by people and experiences.
She collected people the way others collect art: intentionally, lovingly, and with an eye for what was rare and meaningful. Over the years, she cultivated friendships, deep conversations, shared meals, long drives, laughter around tables, and quiet moments of understanding. She collected relationships. She collected memories. And she kept them carefully.
Donna believed connection was life's greatest design. Whether through her work as an interior designer or in her personal world, she created spaces where people felt safe, seen, and valued. Clients often became lifelong friends. Acquaintances became chosen family. No one stayed on the surface with Donna for long, she preferred depth.
She was fiercely devoted to her children, who were the center of her heart and the truest measure of her legacy. She loved them with intention and strength, surrounding them with encouragement, protection, and unwavering belief. She believed that they were her true purpose and reason for being. The memories she built with them, ordinary days made sacred, were her greatest treasures.
Donna had a gift for staying connected. She remembered details. She followed up. She checked in. She showed up. Through life's many seasons of celebrations, losses, reinventions, she remained steady and present. People felt claimed by her, in the best way. Once you were in her life, you mattered.
She understood that time is fleeting, so she made moments count. She chose meaningful conversations over small talk, quality over quantity, authenticity over performance. Her life was layered with stories of trips taken, projects completed, tears shed, triumphs celebrated, all woven together by the relationships she nurtured.
Donna is preceded in death by her father, Vernon Ray Hampton, sister Belinda Walker, Grandparents, Fay and Ellis Creek, Vera and Vernon Hampton, aunts, Barbara Lynch and Carolyn Poindexter.
Donna leaves behind her beloved mother Cherry Kuebler, cherished children: Kenneth and Mindy Laster III, Garrett and Natalie Laster, and Abbie and Chase Deibert. Precious grandchildren: Kenneth IV and Finley Laster, and Drew Laster. Treasured siblings: Patty Heckathorn and family, children including: Spencer and Sherece Heckathorn; Ashely and Rob Chapman, and her numerous nieces and nephews. Hank and Sarah Hampton, their children Ella and Heidi. Dear friends, and a wide circle of people who carry pieces of her in their own stories.
Her legacy is not measured in possessions, but in the countless lives she touched and the memories she helped create.
She built a beautiful life - not just in the homes she designed, but in the hearts she gathered.
And those hearts will carry her forward.
Donna's celebration of life will be Sunday, April 12th, 2026, at 2pm. Service will be at New Beginning Baptist Church in Bixby. 4104 E 151st S, Bixby, OK 74008.
