Donald "Don" Burr's Obituary
Donald Burr Obituary
Born September 20, 1957 in San Bernardino, California, Donald Joe Burr was the son of Billy Burr, Sr. and Gilda (Hall) Burr. Donald's father was an extremely hard worker and farmed for a living which meant Don and his siblings grew up learning the value of hard work. After Don's 18th birthday, the Burr family moved to Oklahoma, making Bixby their home. A very likeable guy, Don was always making friends. It was through one of his friends, David, that he met Rosemary Pierce- David's sister. The two fell in love and were married on January 12, 1980 in Bixby, where they made their home. To support his family, Don pursued a career as a heavy equipment operator. He found employment with the City of Bixby as a supervisor and, for a time, he maintained the Bixby cemetery. Don retired after 16 years of service. In 2005, after a short battle with cancer, Rosemary passed away. This prompted Don to move to Eufaula to be close to his daughter, Wendy. Don enjoyed his time in Eufaula, spending as much time with his grandchildren as possible. He also enjoyed being on the lake, another place he could visit with family and friends. Don's children described him as an amazing and strong man. There is no doubt he will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren and those that knew and loved him. Those he leaves behind include: his daughters: Wendy Burr and husband, Chris Kess; Alicia Burr and fiancé, Jacky Putnam all of Eufaula; and Bianca Burr of Tulsa; son, Jason Burr and wife, Tauni of Bixby; grandchildren: Bailey and Hailey Burr, Wittany and Skylar Kess, Alley, Jason, Jr., Heaven, Nevaeh, Miley, Donald and Zaydin Burr, Carly Essary, and Devin Nemick; brother, Ron Burr and wife, Jackie of Sapulpa and sister, Mary Freeman and husband, Larry of CA. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosemary Burr; brothers, Leonard, Billy, Tommy and Jimmy Burr; and a niece, Brittany Burr.Visitation Bixby Funeral Service 13307 S.
