Dianne McQuarrie's Obituary
Dianne McQuarrie Obituary
Dianne (Rhodes) McQuarrie, born on August 23, 1948, in Canton, Ohio, to Clarence Rhodes and Beatrice Vivian (Carter), embarked on a life marked by determination, innovation, and boundless love. Her journey began near her birth community, where she spent her early years. At the age of 19, she would find herself graduating with a degree in Physics from the University of Pittsburgh, quite the milestone at such a young age.
Devoting her career to the airline industry, Dianne played a pivotal role in the development of online ticket reservations. Fearlessly navigating a predominantly male-dominated field, she secured at least three patents, showcasing her engineering prowess. Notably, she triumphed in advancing women's rights in employment during pregnancy, a testament to her unwavering commitment to equality. Dianne's hunger for knowledge remained insatiable throughout her life, embodying her belief that information is power.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Dianne was a devoted mother who nurtured and empowered her children. Working in the airline industry allowed Dianne to help her children discover the wonders of travel, fostering a love for a diverse world. Her legacy was not just in her adventures but in the invaluable lessons of love and warmth, she imparted, lessons that only deepened with the arrival of grandchildren.
A grandmother known for her love, activity, and involvement, Dianne embraced life's challenges and joys. In her leisure time, she tackled DIY projects, transformed homes, tended to gardens, and cared for animals, always having at least one loyal dog by her side - her latest companion, Pete.
Generous, kind, a teacher, courageous, brilliant, curious, and an unstoppable force - these are just a few words that barely begin to capture the essence of Dianne. Although mostly an introvert, the outpouring of love and tributes from family, friends, and acquaintances attests to the indelible mark she left on their lives.
Dianne peacefully departed from this life on February 23, 2024, at the age of 75. She was preceded in death by her mother, Beatrice Vivian (Carter) Fridley, her father, Clarence Rhodes, her half-brother, David Rhodes, and her husband, Robert Kennedy McQuarrie.
Dianne is survived by her loving children: daughter, Kerry; sons, Robert and Michael; and daughter, Molly. She is also survived by three adoring grandchildren: Miabella, Cecelia, and Bruce; her half-brother, James Rhodes; and a multitude of extended family and friends.
In keeping with Dianne's passion for animals, memorial donations in her memory may be directed to the Tulsa ASPCA.
A celebration of Dianne's remarkable life will take place on Saturday, March 30, 2024, in the afternoon at Rivercrest Chapel & Event Center, Bixby.
