Dennis Bolding Obituary
A graveside service to honor and remember the life of Dennis Bolding will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 27, 2018 in the Bixby Cemetery. Dennis passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018 in Tulsa. He was 87.Born August 6, 1930 in Rose, Oklahoma, Dennis was the son of David Arthur and Fannie Alice (Hudson) Bolding. Dennis was reared in the Haskell area. Raised during the depression, Dennis and his family learned the value of hard work and dependability upon one another during those years. In his youth, Dennis played baseball and he would forever have a love of the game as he was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Following his 1948 graduation from Haskell High School, Dennis entered the United States Army where he served his country for nearly four years. Through his service, he was awarded the Army Occupation Medal (Japan), the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. Once back home, Dennis had a career in sales with the W.C. Norris Company. Married to Mattie Collins, Dennis was always 'head over heels' for Mattie and she was undoubtedly the love of his life. Never having children of their own, it has been said of Dennis that he still managed to be a father to many as he cared for and loved others. Always having a wonderful relationship with his nieces and nephews, they all remember and cherish time spent with Uncle Dennis and Aunt Mattie. It was Dennis and Mattie who taught their nieces and nephews the game of spoons and of course they passed that down to their children.Dennis was quite the gardener and grew the best tomatoes. He was also particular about his yard and always kept it well-manicured. When he wasn't outside he could be found in front of the TV cheering on his Sooners or his Cardinals. A man of few words, but a man who was liked by all, Dennis was funny, sincere, humble and gentle. He often said, "Life is what you make of it" and he lived both a good and quiet life. Dennis will be missed by those he leaves to cherish his memory. Those family members include: his nieces and nephews: Brenda McKinney of Eufaula, Lanette Adams of Norman, S. T. Bolding of Guthrie and David Paul Collins of Haskell. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Mattie (Collins) Bolding; his parents and his siblings: J.B. Bolding, L.Z. Bolding, S.T. Bolding and Alma (Bolding) Bourland.Service Bixby Cemetery 151st and Sheridan Bixby, Oklahoma 74008 11:00 AM
