Delores "Cotton" Wadsworth's Obituary
Delores Wadsworth Obituary
Born April 5, 1935 in Checotah, Oklahoma, Delores was the daughter of Inez (Briggs) and William Jasper "Bill" Hill. Reared and educated in Checotah, Delores was affectionately known by the name "Cotton" for having hair as white as the crop. While in school, Cotton was a member of the Wildcats basketball and softball team, Glee Club, and she would become a member of the graduating Class of 1954.Following graduation, Cotton lived in Walnut Creek, California where she became the proud mom to her baby boy, Billy. Realizing California was not where she wanted to raise her son, Tulsa soon became their home. In Tulsa, Cotton sought employment with North American Rockwell. It was there, through mutual friends and colleagues, that she was introduced to Cline Wadsworth. The two immediately connected and eventually married in 1967.Cotton would later attend Tulsa Community College and, in 1981, would graduate with a degree in nursing. She then began her career with St. John Medical Center working as a charge nurse in rehabilitation. She retired after 20 years of service. When not at work, Cotton could be found painting or working in her kitchen. She was an avid artist, commissioned by the Cherokee Nation, and even had several of her pieces displayed in galleries. In her kitchen, her specialties were her famous jerky and orange cake. It became a Christmas tradition for all the family to receive their own bag of her jerky and all of her granddaughters requested her orange cake to be served at their weddings. It was on June 21, 2019 that Cotton passed away in Oklahoma City at the age of 84.
