Deborah Twilley Obituary
A funeral ceremony honoring Deborah Urban Twilley will be held 10 AM Friday, July 29, 2022 in the Rivercrest Chapel, 13329 S. Memorial Drive in Bixby. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 PM Thursday at Bixby-South Tulsa Funeral Service. Debbie passed away Sunday evening, July 24, 2022 at Clarehouse in Tulsa. She was 71.
Deborah was born to the loving family of Richard and Venice Urban on December 5, 1950. Her family moved routinely throughout her childhood as her father started new restaurants throughout the country while her mother devoted herself to make each new place feel like home. Eventually, the Urban family settled in the city of Memphis, Tennessee where Debbie (as her friends called her) graduated from Oakhaven High School and matriculated to the Theater program at the University of Memphis.
Several years later Debbie met the love of her life Glenn Twilley at a party in Houston, Texas. They soon started dating and married on December 29, 1973. Glenn started working for Debbie’s father in Virginia and they moved several times during the early days of their marriage, but eventually the family put down roots in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma in 1985.
In 1990 Debbie went back to college where she became a registered nurse. She pursued a career on the Oncology floor at St. John’s and with the rehabilitation department of Saint Francis. Debbie was also employed by Broken Arrow Public Schools until her retirement in 2000.
Her Christian faith played a tremendous part in her life. Debbie loved studying the Bible usually with highlighter in hand while writing notes in the margins. She spent countless hours volunteering at the church from helping the children, cooking meals for families of the deceased, welcoming new members, and assisting those in need of prayer.
Surviving family includes her husband Glenn Twilley, children Katherine Lyn Twilley, Howell Twilley, and Richard Twilley; grandchildren Camden and Claire; sister Donna Husband and her husband Chester, sister in law Ann Edwards and her husband Robert, and numerous nieces and nephews. Deborah was preceded in death by her parents.
