David Matthew Jones' Obituary
David Matthew Jones, 55, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025, peacefully, with his daughter by his side.
Born on April 1, 1970, in Louisville, Kentucky, David was the beloved son of James and Barbara (Holmes) Jones. He grew up in the Tulsa area, including Broken Arrow, and graduated from Bixby High School with the Class of 1988, where he played football in his younger years and was known as the goofy class-clown with the most beautiful smile.
David embodied the true spirit of friendship and generosity. He was a friend to everyone he met and would literally give you the shirt off his back - though he was quick to remind you to return his tools if you borrowed them! His warmth, humor, and willingness to help others defined his character throughout his life.
A dedicated craftsman, David worked in construction his entire career, mastering residential and commercial projects as well as remodeling work. He was a skilled welder and craftsman who took great pride in his work. His hobbies included woodworking, craft welding, and riding his beloved Harley. David was extremely proud of the things he made with his hands but his greatest accomplishment was being a father to his two kids and "pappy" to his grandchildren.
David was known as the family's designated "ham carver" at gatherings, a role he took seriously and performed with his characteristic good humor. Those who knew him best would describe him as funny and helpful - two qualities that never failed him.
Above all, David was a devoted father, son, grandfather, and friend. He was a good man who loved his family deeply and left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. His legacy will live on through his children and the countless lives he touched with his kindness and generosity.
David is survived by his parents, James and Barbara Jones; his son, David Tyler Jones; his daughter, Mackenzie Renee Fivecoats and her husband Breyden; his cherished grandchildren, Kohen and Bennett Fivecoats; his brother, Zack Jones and wife Traci; and his two nephews, Logan and Carter Jones.
