Charlene Huddleston, 80, died October 30, 2021 from complications related to Alzheimer’s disease. She was born November 25, 1940 in Hillsboro, TX, the oldest child of Charles Elmer and Helen Diggs. She attended the Union Bluff Community School until it closed in 1951, and completed her education in Hillsboro, where she graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1959. After graduating from Draughon’s Business College in Dallas, she went to work as secretary for the U.S. department of Agriculture.
In 1960 she married Dennis Huddleston, her high school sweetheart. She continued to work as a secretary until Dennis graduated from college in 1962. Together they had three sons, Larry, David, and Brian. The family moved to multiple locations with Dennis’ employer, including New Orleans, La, Houston, TX, Norwalk, CT, and Slidell, LA.
While living in Norwalk, CT, she served as an elementary and middle school teacher’s aid for several years and joined Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) in Danbury, CT, serving as a Discussion leader and Substitute Teaching Leader. In 1985, she became in BSF Teaching Leader in Slidell, LA, an in 1989 she became a BSF Area Advisor for Louisiana, Southern Arkansas, and Northeast Texas. In 1998, she began serving BSF classes in the Houston area and South Texas, until she retired in 2007. After retirement, she taught the Senior Ladies Sunday School class at Champion Forest Baptist Church in Houston, TX for 10 years.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis, one sister, Sue Schriver of Goldthwaite, TX, three sons, Larry, David, and Brian, and twelve grandchildren.
