Carolyn S Boyle's Obituary
Carolyn S. Boyle was born on June 15, 1931, in Mobile, Alabama, to James Daniel and Emma Mae (Painter) Stoudenmier. She was the first of two daughters and proudly filled the role of big sister to Lorraine. Due to her father's work, the family moved often, and much of Carolyn's childhood and teenage years were spent in Louisiana.
A gifted student, Carolyn completed high school at just 15 years old. She went on to attend junior college before completing her education at North Texas State University, where she earned her degree in Music Education. Music was not simply a career for Carolyn-it was her calling and her passion, and she excelled at it.
At the age of 18, Carolyn married Robert McAfee. Together, they welcomed three daughters: Cathy, Cindy, and Cheryl. Carolyn devoted her professional life to the public school system as a music teacher, where she inspired countless students. Her love for music extended beyond the classroom, as she enthusiastically led choirs in both school and church settings.
Later in life, Carolyn married William Boyle and, in doing so, lovingly gained three stepchildren: William, Peter, and Katherine. Known for her sociable and outgoing nature, Carolyn was kind, generous, and deeply encouraging. She was a true lover of people, a devoted servant of her church, and a woman of strong faith who loved the Lord.
Carolyn passed from this life on December 30, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents; the father of her children, Robert McAfee; and her husband, William Boyle, whom she will be laid to rest beside at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughters: Cathy Hodgdon and husband David, Cindy Seay, and Cheryl Haynes and husband Dan; her stepchildren: William Boyle, Peter Boyle, and Katherine Ashley; her grandchildren: Jeremiah Haynes, Brian Haynes, James Seay, and Carrie Fleming; five great-grandchildren; and her sister, Lorraine Roote.
