Carol Ann Nelson's Obituary
Carol Ann Nelson, a loving mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on the evening of Saturday, January 4, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 70.
Born on October 1, 1954, in Sunray, Texas, Carol was the cherished daughter of Harold Brittain and Evelyn Kinder (Garrett) Brittain. She graduated from Dumas High School in Dumas, Texas, as part of the Class of 1973. Shortly after, on August 23, 1973, Carol married the love of her life, Kenneth Nelson, in Dumas, where they began their life together.
Carol dedicated her life to raising their daughter, Marcie, in Dumas before relocating to Hughes Springs, Texas, for retirement. In recent years, Carol moved to the Bixby area to be closer to her sister and beloved nieces.
Thoughtful and caring, Carol's greatest joy was her daughter, Marcie, who was the center of her world. Known for her warm and lively spirit, Carol enjoyed dancing, playing bingo, and making cherished memories with her family. She especially loved traveling with her daughter to religious events and participating in Dumas' Dogie Days Festival, a weeklong celebration filled with parades, food, and games, held every June.
Carol is survived by her devoted daughter, Marcie Nelson; her loving mother, Evelyn Kinder; her siblings, Kenneth, Judy, Jeanette, Bud, and Johnny; and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her father, Harold; and her stepfather, Howard Kinder.
A private interment will take place at the Bixby Cemetery. Carol's memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
