Buddy Breshears Obituary
Services to honor and celebrate the life of Buddy Breshears will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 2, 2021 in the RiverCrest Chapel and Event Center, Bixby. Family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. also at RiverCrest. Buddy passed from this life on Saturday, November 27, 2021. He was 70.
Born July 12, 1951, in Haskell, Oklahoma, Marion Franklin Breshears, III was the son of Marion F. Breshears, II “Bud” and Emma (Hallum) Breshears. Buddy, as he would affectionately become known, was the first of four children and became the big brother to siblings: Kathy, Diana, and David.
The Breshears family would make many moves during Buddy’s childhood. They would live in Colorado, Kansas, and California before settling back in the Tulsa area where Buddy became a high school graduate of Tulsa’s East Central High School.
Shortly after high school, Buddy would meet the love of his life, Diana Lynn. The couple knew quickly that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. Within a couple of months of dating, they made their run to Mexico where they married, since Diana was only 16. After a couple months of avoiding the consequences that waited at home for them, they obliged to return on the condition that her parents would allow them to legally marry in the States.
Buddy and Diana operated a couple of dirt track racetracks in the Tulsa area through the years. This satisfied Buddy’s need for speed as he was always in possession of at least one fast, hot rod at a time. In addition, he worked as an accomplished carpenter in residential construction. When he was looking for something to do to pass the time, Buddy could be found hunting, fishing, building things, or making a batch of his famous moonshine. He was also known to support his sons in motocross racing and coached his daughters in softball. Lately, Buddy has enjoyed being a spectator at any rodeo he could find.
Family was certainly the most important thing to Buddy as he and Diana would go on to have 4 children, 6 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband - thanks to Diana - as she always kept him in line! In their later years, the two enjoyed taking road trips together to National parks. Living full-time at Tenkiller Harbor, they took countless boat rides, out on the lake, and golf cart rides around their neighborhood. They also enjoyed gardening and spending time with the rest of the “Tenkiller Harbor Gang” that they regarded as their own family. Sadly, Buddy’s wife passed away in May of 2018. Since that time, he has missed her deeply and these past few years have been very difficult without her. Thankfully, he had his children and grandchildren to keep him going!
Described as stubborn, hard-working, fair, and a little bit set in his ways, Buddy was a cowboy at heart or at least in his mind! He made things fun and interesting, and he will be deeply missed by his family and his friends.
Buddy passed from this life on Saturday, November 27, 2021 in Kellyville surrounded by his family.
He is survived by: his children: daughter, Dawn Reaser and husband, Thad; son, B.J. Breshears and wife, Jerusha; daughter, Sarah Breshears; son, Matthew Breshears and wife, Raegan; grandchildren: Justin Reaser and wife, Madison, Savanah Reaser, Tyler Stroup, Abbey Breshears, Joseph Breshears, Kambrie Breshears, and Kayd Hensley; great-grandchildren: Stetson and Walker Reaser; siblings: sister, Kathy Frost and husband, Bud; sister, Diana Garrett and husband, Terry, and brother, David Breshears.
