Bryan Head's Obituary
Bryan Head Obituary
Robert “Bryan” Head passed away Friday, January 8, 2021 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was born May 24, 1967 at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa, the son of Robert E. and Marilyn (Logsdon) Head. Bryan grew up in the Willow Springs neighborhood and attended school in Bixby, graduating with the Class of 1985. He was one of the “Bixby Boys” where he was known to be the social organizer in the group. Bryan was athletic during his youth, participating in soccer, football, wrestling, and baseball. Always concerned about his appearance, Bryan had a bedroom full of workout equipment. He also knew how to maintain a marvelous tan! Since he was a toddler, Bryan had a love for Corvettes (any Corvette prior to 1967 just to clarify). He also enjoyed water skiing on Fort Gibson, Tenkiller, and Lake Hudson with his family for many years. Following high school in Bixby, he attended Tulsa Junior College and the University of Oklahoma. Bryan suffered a tragic fall on December 13, 1987 that would lead to a lifelong disability. His life after the fall revolved around his determination to overcome the injury and that same determination was what helped him fight and win his battle against cancer. Bryan would spend many years in rehabilitation and working out in the pool at the Bixby YMCA. Bryan was continually a joy to be around. His disability never got the best of him. In fact, he would make jokes about it quite frequently. The ladies would describe Bryan as sweet and compassionate. He always provided a tremendous amount of comfort and emotional support to his mother. Bryan Head will not soon be forgotten by a host of family and friends who loved him. Survivors include his parents, Robert and Marilyn Head; his two sisters, Michele Chissoe and her husband, Aaron, and Mandy Stiles and husband, Jeremy; his nieces and nephews, Kevin, Kurtis, Katlyn, Benjamin, Tatum and Tori; as well as an extended family and host of friends. Bryan was preceded in death by his nephew, Blake. A private graveside ceremony will be held in the Bixby Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects to Bryan during visitation from 6-8 PM Wednesday, January 13 at the Rivercrest Chapel in Bixby.
