Betty McClain Obituary Betty Jo McClain, a cherished member of the Bixby community, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 29, 2024, at the age of 77. Betty's journey through life was marked by warmth, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to family and friends. Raised in Butler, Oklahoma, Betty was the beloved daughter of the late grocers of Stockton's Grocery, Lindsey and Ethel Stockton. It was in that small community of Butler where Betty spent the majority of her formative years. Opportunity would eventually bring the Stockton's to Bixby when their family purchased a laundromat downtown. Stockton's Laundry would become a Bixby landmark and a successful business for many years. It was a place where family and friends gathered to take care of basic needs and where community, conversation, and compassion were also shared. Graduating proudly from Bixby High School with the Class of 1964, Betty would leave a lasting mark on her school as a spirited basketball player for the Spartans. Betty's post-graduate years saw her attend beauty school, where she honed her skills and worked as a beautician while raising her two beloved children, Kimberly and Timothy. In a love story that spanned decades, Betty married the love of her life, Donny McClain, on August 20, 1977, in Colorado. Their connection was born out of mutual friendships, and together they became the epitome of wonderful parents. The McClain family embarked on countless exciting vacations, filled with boating adventures linked to Donny's fishing pursuits, camping escapades, and shared moments that created lasting memories. Betty's heart overflowed with love and pride for her grandchildren, supporting them wholeheartedly in all their athletic and sporting endeavors. Her enthusiasm for life extended to her love of shopping, particularly enjoying the thrill of garage sales. Family was paramount to Betty, and her home was a haven for children and grandchildren alike. Despite facing the challenges of dementia, Betty's radiant smile never faded, and her infectious laughter echoed through the toughest times. Betty was a beacon of joy, with an indomitable spirit that endeared her to all who knew her. She could often be found humming a cheerful tune, spreading positivity to everyone around her. Betty is survived by: her loving daughter, Kimberly Copeland and husband, Wayne; her son, Timothy Friberg; step-daughter, Dawnya; her cherished grandchildren, Amber, Donnie, Brandyn, Kherstyn, Justyn, Madison, Mason, Sophie; great-grandchildren: Adley, Olivia, Liam, Aiden, Scarlett, Ava, Walker, Enzo, and Noah will carry forward the legacy of her love and laughter. She is also survived by: her brother, Sonny Stockton, and sister-in-law, Barbara; special friends, R.D. Kirkland and Dianna Rickner; along with her nieces and nephews that she adored and loved. Betty was preceded in death by: her parents: Lindsey and Ethel (Miller) Stockton; her beloved husband, Donny; her brother, Jimmy; sisters: Linda and Peggy, and step-son, Danny, all who leave behind a legacy of love and fond memories. Words that best describe Betty include mothering, caring, funny, and outgoing. Betty was a selfless soul who would go to great lengths for anyone in need. Her home was a haven for kids and grandkids, a place filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments.
