Bettie Louise Weir's Obituary
Bettie Louise (Easley) Weir was born on December 2, 1933, in Covina, California to Cliett and Virginia (Claxton) Easley. She passed from this life and transitioned to her heavenly home on Thursday, March 27, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Some of Bettie's fondest memories while growing up were when she and her family would spend the day at the beach. Spending time at the beach continued to be one of Bettie's favorite activities for many years.
After high school, Bettie joined the United States Navy, proudly serving her country for approximately two years. While in the Navy, she fell in love with a handsome young man by the name of William (Bill) Weir. It was in their final year of military service that Bill felt the call of God in their lives to surrender to the gospel ministry.
They spent more than 40 years serving local churches like Woodland Acres Baptist Church and Garnett Road Baptist Church. During those early years, they began their family becoming the parents of three daughters and two sons.
Bettie taught Sunday School and Training Union and sang in the church choir. One of her greatest joys was volunteering at a local Women's Shelter by the name of Day Spring Villa. She was a wonderful wife and mother, despite the heartbreak of losing one of her sons three days after birth and then losing her other son shortly after he married Lisa Holt (Thomas). Bettie's love for children continued as she and Bill ministered to and cared for three children for nearly two years, who needed stability in their life.
Once Bettie's children got older, she joined the workforce, first at Hillcrest Hospital in Food Service, and worked at Shell Oil Company as a Customer Service Representative until her retirement.
In Bettie's free time, she enjoyed reading and exercising, especially walking. But Bettie's heart was always to give of herself to help others. She had a special gift and compassion for older adults, often giving them a ride to church and ministering to them in many ways.
For the last year and a half, Bettie enjoyed living at University Village. She was involved in just about every activity there was and gained many friendships during her stay.
Those left to grieve her passing are her three daughters, Virgina Weir of Shawnee, Oklahoma; Roxanna Baldridge and her husband, Sandy of Jenks, Oklahoma; Tresa Griffith and her husband Richard of Mustang, Oklahoma; as well as twin brother Dick Easley and wife Maryann of Laguna Niguel, California; Younger brother Warren Easley and his wife, Marge of Aurora, Oregon; Terry and Lisa Thomas of Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Twelve grandchildren, Eleven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cliett and Virginia (Claxton) Easley, her husband William F. Weir and her two sons, Daniel Cliett Weir and David Clark Weir.
The Weir family would like to thank University Village and Luminous Hospice for the great care they provided Bettie in the last several months of her life.
There will be a viewing at Bixby Funeral Home Friday April 11th from 10:00-12:00, followed by a private burial at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A Celebration of Life for Bettie will be at the RiverCrest Chapel of Bixby Funeral Home on Saturday, April 12, at 11:00 AM.
