Bertha Cornel Glasco's Obituary
Bertha Glasco Obituary
Bertha Cornel Glasco, affectionately known as Cornel, was born on June 13, 1947, in the picturesque town of Collinsville, Oklahoma, to Cornelius Chester and Doris Maxine (Shadrick) Hearn. She peacefully departed this world on Sunday evening, March 3, 2024, in Tulsa, at the age of 76.
Cornel had four siblings, Chuck, Paul, Dub, and Ellen. She grew up in Collinsville with a unique companion – a spider monkey. She attended school in Collinsville and built lifelong connections in the community.
During her junior high years, Cornel met the love of her life, and from that moment, they became an inseparable pair. They ventured to Tulsa, where they laid the foundation for a beautiful family. Cornel's life was marked by a deep appreciation for the simple joys – the gentle melody of windchimes in the breeze and the peaceful pastime of birdwatching.
Professionally, Cornel served as a compassionate nurses aid in various institutions, including the Tulsa Nursing Center, Colonial Manor, and the MTTA Bus Lines. Her meticulous organizational skills and dedication to her work made her an invaluable asset.
Cornel had a passion for country music, with a particular fondness for Garth Brooks. Her favorite song, "Dirty Laundry," echoed the rhythm of her heart. In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing cards, especially indulging in a game of gin rummy, and trying her luck at bingo.
Cornel is survived by her four loving daughters: Mary Glasco Weaver and wife Ree, Rachel Miller, Tricha Burr and husband Glen, and Jerrie Glasco. She is also survived by her siblings, Paul, Dub, and Ellen. Her legacy also lives on through her cherished grandchildren, Christina and husband Marc, Casandra and husband Rob, Benny and wife Jessica, Christopher, Mary, Bobbie, Tamera, Jeffrey, Brandy, Jerrod, Chelsea, Harley, Morgan, James, and Joseph, along with 35 great-grandchildren.
She is reunited in eternity with her parents, Cornelius and Maxine, her husband Jerry, and her brother Chuck. Cornel is also preceded by her brother-in-law, William Doyle Glasco, and his wife, Sue Glasco.
A funeral ceremony to honor Bertha Cornel Glasco's life will take place at 10:30 AM on Thursday, March 7, in the Rivercrest Chapel of Bixby-South Tulsa Funeral Service. Interment will follow in the Sand Ridge Cemetery near Collinsville. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects as Cornel lies in state from 10 AM to 8 PM, also in the Rivercrest Chapel. As we bid farewell to Cornel, may we find solace in the memories of her vibrant spirit and the love she shared with all who were fortunate enough to know her.
