Barbara E. (Seratt) Southwick's Obituary
Barbara Southwick Obituary
On March 3, 1935 in Ray, Oklahoma, Barbara Ellen Southwick was born to George W. and Carmen (Boyd) Seratt. She was raised as the child of sharecroppers along with her 4 sisters and 1 brother. Barbara graduated from Hulbert High School in 1953 and went to work in Tulsa at Southwestern Bell (later to become AT&T) as a Telephone Operator where should would stay throughout her career.Barbara welcomed her only child, Nancy, in 1965. After her retirement in 1986, Barbara worked jobs that allowed her to contribute back to her community. She dearly loved being a school crossing guard and later went on to work at a local voting precinct before she settled firming into retirement. She loved antiquing, genealogy, and bargain hunting. She also loved a good argument over politics to get everyone’s blood pumping! She had quite the sense of humor and was very quick-witted. She also enjoyed sharing many stories of her experiences as a child working to raise crops. Although she had little in the way of possessions growing up, she had a life rich with experiences that she loved to share with others. She was fiercely committed to her family and lived out her later years selflessly concerned only for her child, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There is no doubt she will be deeply missed by her family and close friends. Barbara is survived by: her daughter, Nancy Pausche, and son-in-law Michael Pausche; 3 grandchildren, Alexa, Aidan and Roman; 2 great-grandchildren, Ariana and Lucy. She is also survived by her sister, Carolyn, and many nieces and nephews.
