Barbara Jo Lorenzen's Obituary
Barbara Jo Lorenzen, age 88, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2024, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born on May 31, 1936, at Morningside Hospital in Tulsa, she was the beloved daughter of Theodore August and Josephine Delila (McClure) Schumacher.
Barbara graduated from Daniel Webster High School and went on to attend Oklahoma A&M College, now known as Oklahoma State University, where she was a proud member of the Delta Zeta sorority. Throughout her life, she was deeply involved in community activities and organizations.
She served as a past worthy advisor of Rainbow Girls and was a dedicated Camp Fire Girls leader for each of her daughters for five years. Barbara also supported her son's cub scout troop activities and was active in the Blue T quarterback club.
The joy of Barbara's life was her family, especially her grandchildren. She was incredibly proud to be a great-great grandmother, a role she cherished deeply.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, August and Josephine Schumacher; her husband of 52 years, Robert Lorenzen, in 2007; her maternal grandparents, T.M. and Neeomer Sarah McClure; her paternal grandparents, T.F. and Lottie Schumacher; and her grandson, Christopher Parenti.
She is survived by her children: Roberta Jo Allen of Bixby, Dale William Lorenzen of El Reno, and Rebecca Richardson of Bixby; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one step-great-granddaughter; one step-great-grandson; and five great-great-grandchildren. Barbara is also survived by her sister, Audrey Schumacher.
A funeral ceremony honoring Barbara will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, July 11, at the Liberty Baptist Chapel, with interment to follow at the Bixby Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Liberty Volunteer Fire Department.
