Barbara Ann Blanchard's Obituary
Barbara Blanchard Obituary
On Sunday, January 21st 2024, Barbara A. Blanchard, age 87, resident of Wiggins, MS, and former resident of Bay Saint Louis, MS, departed this Earth to take her place in heaven alongside our Lord.
Barbara held a modest career in the hotel industry for many years as a reservations manager in places such as Tulsa, OK, and New Orleans, LA. In their travels, she and her husband Donald K. Blanchard fell in love with coastal Mississippi and retired in Bay Saint Louis in the 1980s - where they were both active in their local community as members of St. Rose de Lima Church and CASA of Hancock County.
After Hurricane Katrina, Barbara and her husband moved to Wiggins, MS where they became members of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Always willing to help her community, Barbara's charitable donations helped many groups such as Wiggins Community Food Pantry, Doctors Without Borders, Feed the Children, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Food for the Poor, Homes of Grace, The Wounded Warriors Project, Nature Conservancy, and PAWS, along with many others. In her later years, she remained active in the church, faithfully attending Rosary Dedication each week, and hosting a weekly card club with her fellow parishioners.
Barbara Blanchard is preceded in death by her mother and father, Paul and Lorraine Beckman, her brother, Stephen Beckman, her husband, Donald K. Blanchard, her son, David A. Blanchard, and her grandson, Devin Blanchard. She leaves behind her sister, Beverly Deusterman, son Michael Blanchard (Kelly), and her three daughters, Sheryl Madden (Gary), Shelley Cherry (Craig), and Mary Hudson. Barbara also leaves behind eleven grandchildren; Deanna Wooldridge (Steve), Jeremiah Blanchard, Nathan Sapp, Christopher Blanchard, Adriane Morgan (Thomas), Adam Blanchard (Christina), Kristin Blanchard, Jason Lewis (Brittany), Meggan Bailey (Colby), Corbin Blanchard, Lauren Blanchard; eight great-grandchildren, Morgan Wilson (Jacob), Chase Wooldridge (Kathleen), Moorea Blanchard, Lucas Morgan, Gabriel Blanchard, Carson Blanchard, Spencer Lewis, and Ava Blanchard; and four great-great-grandchildren, Addisyn Wilson, Gracie Lemon, Carter Wooldridge, and Kenna Wooldridge.
