Alice J Leerskov's Obituary
Alice J. Leerskov, age 86, of Claremore, Oklahoma, passed peacefully from this life on May 2, 2025, at Senior Suites in Broken Arrow.
Born on August 14, 1938, in Trumann, Arkansas, Alice spent her early years in California, where her family settled in the Sacramento area. She also lived in Santa Ana and San Juan Capistrano before relocating to Phoenix, Arizona. Around 1978, Alice made Claremore, Oklahoma her permanent home.
As a young woman, Alice played clarinet in her high school band and took piano lessons from an early age. Practicing piano not only refined her musical talent but became her escape from chores-a story she fondly remembered. Her musical gifts would become a lifelong ministry as she faithfully served by playing piano in her church.
Alice earned a Bachelor's degree in Business from American River College in California and began her career as a secretary. After moving to Oklahoma, she found her calling in the insurance industry, working with Neely Insurance in Claremore. She was a proud member of Business Women of America and a respected figure in the community-known for her leadership, generosity, and unwavering dedication to service through her church. A mentor to many, Alice was deeply admired by colleagues and friends alike.
In retirement, Alice enjoyed reading, traveling, and especially going on cruises. Her sharp wit was often on display, especially when playfully sparring with her beloved husband, Noel. She was known for her kind and gentle spirit, her supportive and non-judgmental nature, and her ever-present sense of humor. So tenderhearted, in fact, that she once took a class just to learn how to say "no." She was also a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the OU Sooners.
A true overcomer, Alice was a breast cancer survivor of more than 36 years. Her resilience, warmth, and grace touched all who knew her and leave a legacy that will long be remembered.
To her family, Alice was a beautiful and devoted mother, wife, grandmother, and friend. Her quick wit, warm heart, and unfailing kindness filled the lives of those around her. She radiated love, and that love lives on in all who were blessed to know her.
Alice is survived by her loving husband, Noel; her children: son, Brett Rojo and wife,
Tammy, and daughter, Stephanie Ott and husband, Calvin; and stepdaughter, Lora
Sparrowk; and former daughter-in-law, Cindy Anderson Rojo. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and
three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Gilbert Ross and Don Ross.
