Alan passed away early Monday morning, June 10, 2024, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was 76 years old.
Born on August 1, 1947, in Oklahoma City, Alan was the beloved son of Harry Richard and Thelma (Hawkins) Segnar. His father was a geologist, and Alan grew up in Oklahoma City, where he attended John Marshall High School, where he wrestled. He then went on to attend the University of Central Oklahoma and began his career with Insurance of North America before taking a position with Williams Companies, which brought him to Tulsa in 1978.
Alan met Nancy socially in Tulsa in 1977, and they began dating. They married on her birthday, April 17, 1978. Together, they traveled the United States conducting surveys and even worked in Brazil and Puerto Rico. At one point, Alan was rated the highest industrial hygienist in the United States, and he was a great mentor to those starting in the field.
Alan was highly skilled in mathematics and had a photographic memory. He maintained a genuine interest in everyone he met and was known for his jovial personality, great sense of humor, and consistently positive attitude. He loved watching football with friends and family and was an avid Sooner fan. He and his wife raised Angus beef cattle, always keeping his clients well-stocked with fresh beef. He had a deep love for his cattle and dogs and had a passion for John Deere tractors and fast cars, especially Corvettes. Alan loved Fishing and floating the Illinois River and loved spending time with his Grandchildren. They were always ready to help him and took him on many outings.
Alan is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; his son, Rob Brewer, and wife, Rhonda; six grandchildren, Frank Brewer, Jessica Brewer, Beau Brewer and wife, Jalia, Sarah Moore and husband, Tim, Colin Brewer, and Dilon Brewer; and seven great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Violet, Harper, Luke, Hunter, Charlie, and Audrey. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Segnar, and wife, Sherri.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Alan and Nancy were members of First Baptist Church Bixby since they moved to the area.
Alan will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, mentorship, and joy will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
