Agnes Horn's Obituary
Agnes Horn was born on Saturday, October 31, 1931 in Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania to Walter Shukauskas and Antonette (Makalonis) Shukauskas, both Lithuanian immigrants. Agnes was the younger sister to Mary, who Agnes renamed Marcy. Agnes and Marcy were educated in the Catholic School in Mahanoy City. After graduation, she followed Marcy to Washington D.C. to work for the U.S. government.
While in Washington, Agnes met a young Army corporal from Eufaula, Oklahoma by the name of Jimmy Horn. The two fell in love and married on Wednesday, June 18, 1958. The Horns made their home in Tulsa where Jimmy worked as a retail manager for Baker Shoes and Agnes worked as a secretary in accounting firms.
The Horns were blessed with two wonderful daughters, Liz and Lori, and raised them in the midtown Tulsa area. Agnes enjoyed ceramics, going to the beach, reading, and gambled like a boss at River Spirit Casino. Agnes was a Scrabble master, beating everyone in sight and the computer most of the time.
Jimmy passed away on June 13, 2006. In early 2024, Agnes fell and her life as an independent woman was changed. Liz and Lori, along with her beloved caregivers, kept Agnes at home with 24-hour care.
Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy R. Horn; her parents, Walter and Antonette Shukauskas; and her sister, Marcy Sparacin.
Agnes is survived by her daughters, Liz Shaddox and her husband Randy of Tulsa; Lori Grant and her partner Chuck Fluker of Tulsa; her nephews Keith Sparacin and his wife Diana of Plano, Texas and Bob Horn and his wife Andi of Tulsa; and three very special caregivers, Erin Montgomery, Cyndi Adams and Katie Pearn.
Agnes will be buried with her husband in the National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma at a private family gathering.
